Who We Are
Jubilee Christian Center, founded by Pastors Dick and Carla Bernal in 1980, is a non-denominational, charismatic church located in the heart of Silicon Valley with a congregation that’s celebrated for its varied nationalities and backgrounds.
Jubilee is a large church featuring a variety of ministries that cater to many individual needs, yet it retains the intimacy of a small church. We invite people to “come as you are and let God do the rest.”
Our pastors are known worldwide for their compassion and drive. We support Bay Area missions and have a huge presence around the globe – including the remotest spots in India, the Philippines, Africa, Mexico, Haiti, and Panama – and strive to spread the gospel to as many unchurched people as possible.
Jubilee’s Outreach Pantry serves food and household supplies to more than 1,000 families weekly and sponsors annual Backpack, Thanksgiving Dinner, and Christmas Toy Giveaways.
Jubilee’s Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday services are live-streamed and thousands of faithful followers around the world tune in to see our weekly messages.
Pastor Dick is a former ironworker who labored on many of the buildings and bridges still in existence here in the Bay Area. Shortly after his daughter Sarah was born in 1976, Carla hemorrhaged and flat-lined in the hospital. Dick cried out to God for the first time, asking to save his wife’s life. He made a deal – if the Lord would save his wife, he would follow God. Carla’s instant recovery was called a miracle by her doctors.
Shortly after that, Pastor Dick was called to the ministry and he kept his promise. He quit his job, sold his home, and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife to attend Rhema Bible Training Center. Following their graduation in 1980, Pastors Dick and Carla returned to the Bay Area and, together with his sisters Juanita and Judy, they founded Jubilee Christian Center in Juanita’s living room. They’ve now been senior pastors for nearly 33 years.
